Wildlife abounds in the Sitka area.  Some of the biggest attractions are the Humpback Whales and Alaska Coastal Brown Bears but there are a variety of other species to view as well.  In addition to the wildlife the geographical scenery of Sitka Sound is nothing less than stellar.  Mt Edgecumbe Volcano makes an excellent backdrop and the volcanic sea caves and cliffs are a blast to explore.  Ocean rafts are ideal for marine wildlife viewing excursions.  Fast and fun you can get out there with the wildlife and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of nature.  Pair a raft trip with a stop at a natural hot springs, an ATV tour or a hike along a secluded beach.

Did you know that Humpback Whales can be identified by their tails?  Like a fingerprint the markings on the underside of each whales tail is unique.  Here is a link to a University of Alaska site for identifying Humpback whales.  Enjoy!
